In 1836 yet another famous Glasgow gunmaker founded his business,
and by 1855 Charles Ingram is recorded as being a cast steel barrel maker and his target rifles were highly regarded.
The firm of Ingram survived until 1945.

Charles A. Ingram, nephew of Charles Ingram, acquired the Glasgow, Scotland business of James Dalziel Dougall in 1894.
The London directories still carried the Ingram name in 1929 and there still was an Ingram firm as of 1946.
They moved to Renfield address in 1870 and in 1925 they were at 10 Waterloo St. and closed their business in 1946.

These target rifles were imported to the USA and were popular with Southern sharpshooters.
Externally they resembled the British Enfield but used Whitworth hexagonal rifling
and specially-manufactured .45 calibre bullets making these rifles extremely accurate.
In the hands of marksmen they were lethal up to 1,500 yards.
