The Arran is the largest island in the Firth
of Clyde 
        and the
seventh largest island in Scotland. 
        
        
        Arran and Cumbrae are both popular holiday destinations
         and
served by car and passenger ferry services 
        
        from the Scottish mainland. 
        
        Arran is mountainous in its northern half.
         The "Arran
Circuit" is a popular ridge walk.
         The highest summit is Goat
Fell ( 2867ft, 874m )
        
         - one
of the 4 Corbetts  on Arran. 
         Arran has been described as "Scotland
in miniature". 
        
        The circular, level, quiet road around Cumbrae 
        
        is a pleasant cycle ride.
