Castle
on Dumbarton Rock
Dumbarton Castle has the longest recorded history of any stronghold in Great Britain. It overlooks the town of Dumbarton and sits on the 240ft ( 73m ) high Dumbarton Rock. The castle is open to the public who can climb the 557 steps to the look-out post on the main summit. Fine views from the twin summits of White Tower Crag and The Beak are obtained over Dumbarton and the River Clyde. |
