Rothesay is the only town on Bute. The main ferry sevice to the island is from Wemyss Bay on the Ayrshire Coast of the mainland of Scotland. There is also a ferry service across the Kyles of Bute to Colintraive on the Cowal Peninsula. Bute is a popular destination with holidaymakers, tourists and day-trippers from Glasgow. The western side of Bute is known for its beaches giving fine views over the Sound of Bute towards Arran |
