Mount Aspiring ( 3,033 metre ) the only mountain above 3000 metres outside the Mount Cook region. It lies within the Mount Aspiring National Park. The Maori name is "Tititea" - "Glistening Peak". It is called "the Matterhorn of the South" due to its pyramidal peak as seen from the Dart River. |
