Mosesfield House - a listed building
-
stands near the site of the old Mosesfield House
that was occupied from 1790 by William Moses
a merchant who made his fortune
 from selling sedan chairs.

The present Mosesfield House
was built in 1838
by the architect David Hamilton.

It later became a church manse.

The son of the minister, George Johnston,

built the first motor car produced in Scotland
 in October 1895
at Mosesfield yard.
Sir William Arroll financed Arroll-Johnston
which produced motor cars for 30 years.

Mosesfield House was presented
 to Glasgow Corporation in 1904.

It was used as a museum
 until the second world war.

Thereafter it was used as
an old men's club house.
