Morganhorn, Weisse Frau and Blumlisalphorn in the Bernese Oberlands of the Swiss Alps

Morgenhorn ( 3603 metres )

The original high level climb of the 24th Glasgow ( Bearsden ) on their bi-annual trips
 to the International Scout Chalet in Kandersteg.
The Morgenhorn was climbed in 1949, 1951, 1954, 1956, 1959 and 1961

Route Description:
Normal route of ascent is by the NW Ridge ( PD ).
From the Blumlisalp Hut proceed up and into the cwm of the glacier
 keeping to the centre
 then heading east to the foot of the ridge
where the bergschrund is usually closed.
A few rocks at the foot then lead to a broad crest
that steepens and narrows as the summit is reached.
