 The 4000m Peaks of the Alps Valais Alps West

 

Ascent route on Breithorn above Zermatt

The Breithorn is one of the most easily climbed of the 4,000m Alps.
 The starting point for the ascent is either from the adjacent Klein Matterhorn ( 3820m )
which is reached by cable car from Zermatt.
or from the nearby Theodule Hut.

The Theodule is a high mountain pass across the eastern Pennine Alps
 connecting Zermatt in the Swiss canton of Valais
 and Breuil-Cervinia in the Italian region of Aosta Valley.
