Founded as a mining camp in the Colorado Silver Boom and named due to the abundance of aspen trees in the area, Aspen is now a ski resort and tourist centre.

Leadville in the Colorado Rocky Mountains A former silver mining camp lying near the headwaters of the Arkansas River,  the city preserves many historic structures and sites from Leadville's mining era.
