Kongur ( 7649m ) from Karakul Lake Kongur
Tagh ( Kongkoerh, Gōnggé'ěr Fēng
) is the highest mountain in the Xinjiang Region of China
Kongur Tagh is located to the north of Mustagh Ata Kongur was not discovered until 1900 by Europeans due to its remoteness and being hidden by nearby peaks. However it has now become more accessible through the building of the Karakorum Highway from Pakistan to China passing close to Tashkurgan and Karakul Lake. |
